New issue 8715 by vaximily: Link to site with invalid certificate will not
load page.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=8715
Chrome Version : 2.0.169.0
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 3: Didn't test.
Firefox 3: OK
IE 7: OK
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Click on link "https://brainshark.com/filename" (no trailing slash or
file extension)
2. Link is set to open in "New Window". FF and Chrome force this to a new
Tab, IE7 actually opens a new window.
What is the expected result?
Page loads with corresponding browser's equivalent of Chrome's "SSL Error"
message. Once you confirm that the certificate is ok, move forward to the
presentation.
What happens instead?
When using a link to access said webpage instead of typing the address
directly into the browser, the page goes white with "about:blank" in the
address bar as if it's loading but never successfully loads the page.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
If you type the address in and confirm the certificate, the link then
begins to work as normal.
The certificate is considered "invalid" because the link being used is
https://brainshark.com/, while the certificate is
https://www.brainshark.com -- adding www. to the front of the link resolves
this issue.
