Comment #28 on issue 685 by unknown.unit: No way to delete items from the
Most visited page...
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=685

I am sure I have asked about this elsewhere but never got a clear response.

what is the possibility of an actual user controllable pinnable menu system
for the
most visited page? If many people like the current way of working then
maybe make
that the default but allow people like me to change a configuration option
which
causes only pages we drag to the "most visited page" to appear there, maybe
even in
the order we declare.

This is how Opera was doing it when I last used it, and for me it is a much
superior
way of working. I often end up going to a site a lot for research over a
few days
and then never again. yet that site will sit in my most visited pages for
a fairly
long time after while a site I visit regularly but not often (maybe 4 or 5
times a
month, but consistently) is pushed off the page waiting to come back up.
The only
way to speed this up is to go to the page I want and load it many times
just to get
it back in the list.

I find this as annoying as the windows dynamic start menu. On windows I
use the "pin
to start menu" option to give me the programs I actually do want quick
access to
because the dynamic menu is such a pain.

I realize not everyone feels the same way I do which is why I say "why not
offer
both" - because windows does offer both I don't get annoyed by the oddities
of the
dynamic menu and people who want that dynamic menu still have it.

overall the dynamic method isn't that terrible, after a few weeks of heavy
use it
tends to have on it what I actually want (unless I then change my browsing
habits.)
but that's a long time to wait, especially when things can be pushed off so
easily
just because I have to visit a certain site or sites a lot for work/research
purposes.

but it is nice to know that at least soon we may be able to delete these
pages we
don't want and deny certain pages ever being added to the menu. once that
is
implemented I may change my mind (well, I know I will still prefer an
actual pinnable
fully user configured menu but this might get close enough for me,) but I'd
still
like to know - is what I am asking for very difficult? I work on software
for a
living so I know something which appears simple to the user may not be
simple at all.
