For comparison, neither IE7 nor Safari4 are bounding the total number of  
sockets.
(Looks like Firefox is the only one to do this).

My experiment consisted of loading a page with 300 images, that are  spread  
across 300 different domains.
Each image URL mapped to my test server, and took a long time (40 seconds)  
to load.
After loading the HTML page, I opened TCPView to see how many connections  
the browser had established to
my server.
