I get this a lot and it's very irritating (although at least I can manually fix it each time). My Chrome version is 2.0.169.1 I typically have up to about 20 - 30 processes running, although most of them are not cpu intensive, and typically only a few Chrome tabs. My pc is XP SP3 with P4 2.6GHz (HT) and 2.5GB ram, so not all that sluggish.
