New issue 15500 by cmroddy: GTK file chooser should show image previews
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=15500

Chrome Version : 3.0.191.0 (19353)
OS + version : Ubuntu 9.04
CPU architecture (32-bit / 64-bit): Both
window manager : Compiz
URLs (if applicable) : http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/entry
(example)
Behavior in Firefox 3.x (if applicable): OK
Behavior in Chrome for Windows (optional): n/a

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Browse to a web page with a file upload form
2. Click the "Choose File" button to open the file chooser
3. Browse to a directory containing images and click once on the name of an
image file

What is the expected result?
Thumbnail should be displayed at the right-hand side of the file chooser
dialog.

What happens instead?
Thumbnail is not displayed.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot
and backtrace if possible.
It is difficult to be sure one is selecting the right image to upload, and
displaying a thumbnail solves that easily. Many people have images with
file names that do not distinguish the contents (DSC0123.jpg, IMG_9876
etc.), and the small icons in the file list pane are not large enough to
accurately select the desired file. The workaround right now is to use a
thumbnailing file manager (e.g. Nautilus) and drag the desired image file
icon into the open file chooser window.
