Comment #11 on issue 9845 by Peter.J.OBrien: Redesign download shelf http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=9845
I agree that the tab idea is confusing, most people don't abstract things like that. Please look at "Download Statusbar" for firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26 Its VERY good. Just the screenshots demonstrate the features it has with minimal real- estate. The 'button' for each download becomes the statusbar (current circle statusbar is hard to see, doesn't behave well at the end of a file). It also shows the filename, current download speed, and time to completion right there in the 'button'. Not to mention the compact popup it gives on mouseover with more useful info. These are minor fixes/ additions to the current download bar that would go a long way. Also of note, when you double click anywhere on each 'button' the file opens, when you right-click ANYWHERE on the 'button' you get the context menu. The second part is key as the current 'tiny dropdown button' is 'barely usable' IMO. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
