Status: Unconfirmed Owner: ---- Labels: Type-Bug Pri-2 OS-All Area-Misc New issue 16066 by buralex: Context menus are displayed but clicking any entry fails to work (sometime after reboot) http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=16066
Chrome Version : Google Chrome 3.0.191.3 URLs (if applicable) : n/a Other browsers tested: n/a What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Reboot computer (Windows XP SP3) 2. Start Chrome ... all context menus work 3. Wait some period of time and/or start some (as yet not isolated) set of other programs. 4. Go back to Chrome and discover that now right-clicking to display ANY context menu (ie. in Tab, in AddressBar, in Page) still displays the menu but selecting any item (whether by clicking or down-arrow+Enter) has no effect. What is the expected result? Selecting context menu items should always perform the expected action. What happens instead? Nothing. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. I have 2 computers in a LAN. I haven't ever found this problem on the lightly used Laptop machine (same OS) but it seems to occur at some point after every reboot of my primary Desktop machine. When I first encountered this problem (several DEV builds ago) I switched back to beta channel (at that time identical to standard channel) and the same version as currently available, uninstalled Chrome, reinstalled, set myself to beta channel - verified that all context menus worked as expected. I then changed back to DEV channel, got the then current DEV version, closed Chrome and reopened it. IIRC all this was done w/o rebooting. After doing that I went into Chrome and discovered I still had the context menu problem. Sometime later I rebooted and discovered that context menu items were working. I assumed that somehow I had resolved whatever the problem was but then later in that session discovered that again Context Menus were "broken" in Chrome. FWIW: I've never seen this behavior in any other application nor in any browser. My primary browser in currently Firefox 3.5 but from time to time I use IE8, Opera 10, and Safari. Note: I'm currently using "--enable-extensions" but have discovered the problem with it both present and removed. Once the Context Menu problem manifests itself closing Chrome and restarting Chrome does NOT clear it. (Nor as I just discovered with update to 3.0.191.3 does installing a new version. Things I haven't tried yet: Reboot into safe mode - it would take too long since problem is never present immediately after boot. See if problem is temporarily cleared by logout - login as well as reboot. See if forcibly terminating Explorer and all other possible running programs somehow "clears" the problem. This sounds like such a weird problem I can only hope that some other user encounters the same thing possibly leading to isolating the real underlying cause. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
