avi, I think a spell-checker attaches these dotted underlines to mis-spelled words. Even though I'm not sure the exact reason, someone changed the spell-checker code in WebKit (or Chromium)? As noted in Issue 11577, test_shell hasn't had have any spell-checkers attached and I assume this issue is related to Issue 11577. Nevertheless, I'm wondering why this problem happens on Mac today.
