I can confirm this issue. I'm using v2.0.172.39. The link does not change color when opened in a new tab. This happens whether you open the link in a new tab by "middle clicking" or by right click --> open in new tab. It's not just on the Google search pages as noted above by ruzanow; I've noticed it on other pages as well.
