I also found that using chrome caused my adsl modem/router to lose some  
internet
functionality.  I have solved this by disabling the dns proxy on the  
router, and
instead passing the ISP dns address directly to the PC.  My guess is that  
pre-
caching DNS addresses was overloading the DNS proxy on the router.  By  
bypassing the
DNS proxy I can leave chrome's pre-caching enabled with no problems.

My router is a Solwise SAR-600EW.
