New issue 20022 by vikram.s3: Text selection is pretty random; needs to be
fixed!
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=20022

Chrome Version : <Copy from: 'about:version'>
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 4: -
   Firefox 3.x: OK
          IE 7: -
          IE 8: -

If there is one reason I prefer to use Firefox over Chrome, it is because
of its fairly random behavior when I try to select text. It ends up
highlighting not just text, but also blank regions of the page.

In the image I have attached, Chrome has highlighted even some part (3/4th
of the area) of the textbox, while has left the other quarter area! The
correct behavior should be how Firefox does it so perfectly and
intuitively. Please fix this issue asap, as I think it is fairly important
for the customer experience of a new browser. In my opinion, Google cannot
afford to lose users due to such minor inconveniences.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Please see the images attached.
2. If you want to try out yourself, I tried at the bottom of this website:

WYm0=&MainSectionID=oHSKVfNWYm0=&SEO=Council+of+Graduate+Schools,US+graduat
e+schools&SectionName=VfE7I/Vl8os=

What is the expected result?
Just like how Firefox behaves. Even a minor difference in text selection is
sure to be noticed by a regular user, and s/he is bound to feel uneasy
about Chrome overall.

What happens instead?

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
