Note: Ananta has a patch out to make plugin processes always run nested
message loops
when sending a sync message.
Once this lands, I was planning on getting rid of the need for cross
process events,
since they won't be necessary anymore. Things will then just work for
POSIX.
Ananta: what's the status of the patch?
