killing chromium on Linux

Chrome Version: 4.0.221.7~svn20091006r28103-0ubuntu1~ucd1~jaunty

OS + version: ubuntu 9.04

CPU architecture (32-bit / 64-bit): 64-bit
window manager :  gnome

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open chrome from the command line (i use --enable-extensions and
--load-extension flag)
2. kill chrome from the command line (ctrl + c)
3. open chrome from the command line
4. click a speeddial link

What is the expected result?

chromium opens the link

What happens instead?

the browser hangs indefinitely

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot
and backtrace if possible.

You can get around the problem by (1) reinstalling chrome or (2) first
opening a link from the bookmarks toolbar... even if in another tab... and
then clicking the speed dial links.
