lost.gobling: event.preventDefault() works so you can prevent things like  
Ctrl+S (as in
save). Preventing the default action in Ctrl+W does not prevent closing the  
window. I'm
pretty sure we don't want to allow that but please file a new bug saying  
that you want
to be able to do this in an extension.
