Comment #79 on issue 9539 by [email protected]: [WinQual] Foxit reader plugin crash http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=9539
Behavior I see in Vista Ultimate SP2, 32-bit, running chromium 4.0.226.0 (Developer Build 30140) and foxit reader plugin, version 1.0.0.1 (modified 10-16-2009) [foxit reader is version 3.1.1.0901]: - Open a PDF (i.e. http://www.healthsafe.uab.edu/pages/flu/cold_or_flu.pdf) - Instead of opening the PDF, a Server Busy window will open that says "This action cannot be complete because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." It has "Switch To..." and "Retry" buttons. Clicking "Switch To..." opens the start menu and Retry doesn't seem to do anything. - Eventually (within 30-45 seconds) chromium generates a "Plug-in Unresponsive" box that says "The following plug-in is unresponsive: Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla - Would you like to stop it?" If I don't stop it, the foxit plugin "Server Busy" will never go away and WerFault.exe runs at ~50% of my dual core processor endlessly. Even after stopping the plugin (and getting the snap icon in the screen & the yellow notice that "The following plug-in has crashed: Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla), Foxit Reader.exe and WerFault.exe both run in the background. The Foxit plugin is called by this command: "C:\PROGRA~1\FOXITS~1\FOXITR~1\FOXITR~1.EXE -Embedding" (as reported by process explorer) I get the above behavior when running chromium either without any options or with my typical set of options: --enable-user-scripts --enable-plugins --enable-extensions --enable-local-storage --user-data-dir="C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data" If I run chromium with --noerrdialogs, the PDFs open just fine.
