Yusuke, can you update your design doc ( http://code.google.com/p/ots/wiki/DesignDoc )? Both GSUB and GPOS (as well as other tables) are necessary for complex scripts like Indic, Thai and Arabic. Currently, the design doc makes it look like GPOS is only for kerning.
