I'm leaning towards no... You have to issue a FindNext and then close the box (or press Back) and then you have to press F3 again with the Find box closed. And even then, you can always erase one character from the search to start it again, so it is recoverable. You don't see a "0 of 0" result so it should be clear that no search was issued...
