(Note that this is about KWM from KDE 3, not kwin from KDE 4.)
KWM has bugs related to undecorated windows. When you right-click on the
tab strip,
what's the setting of "Use System Title Bar and Borders"? If it's checked,
do things
work as expected if you uncheck it and restart?
(This setting should be turned off by default in KWM, but maybe yours got
toggled
somehow.)
