I want to just add a suggestion/workaround - use Droid fonts in Linux. They  
are
rendered (almost) perfectly by Chrome.

However, sometimes they look less than perfect - for example the  
text "Behavior in
Firefox 3.x (if applicable):
Behavior in Chrome for Windows (optional):" at the top of this very page.
