Comment #6 on issue 7558 by tconrad63: If process priority set by user, Chrome shouldn't change it http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7558
I've noticed this problem with the priorities. My company has what I consider "corporate spyware" on our laptops as well as forced times for backups and virus scans (at times convenient to the IT teams, but when the real workers are trying to produce things!). Since I can't drop the priorities on some processes (rtvscan), I can only raise priorities on *my* processes, using Microsoft Process Explorer. For other programs, this works fine, usually allowing me to work with the corporate processes crawling in the background where they belong. However, Chrome is constantly reseting my priorities back to "nice" values. I've seen another report where someone had a Dell Laptop (like mine) and the screen took several seconds to redraw whenever coming back to Chrome after it's been idle for a length of time (I see this). It *locks* the computer so that nothing can be done until the tab redraws (and again on the next tab). Very unacceptable. I've tried to temporarily force higher priorities, but not convinced that higher priorities accelerate the redraw process - perhaps only if done before coming alive? Regardless, having priorities "stick" would be a good feature and perhaps prevent these problems. If a user knows to how to alter their process priorities, one would assume they want them left there. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
