People saying a master password is useless have NO CLUE WHATSOEVER about

NONE. It's that simple. Please just shut the fuck up already, will you?

Make it optional - this is how Firefox behaves, is it not? (If you have  
blank
password, it is "off").

Encrypt the passwords on disk using some nice algorithm employing only the  
password
as key. If you loose your password, you're fscked - unless it was simple,  
in which
case you can feasibly brute force it. Get some actual crypto-folks on this,  
helping
out with the intricacies, of which there are many.
