That's unquestionably not true; I not infrequently mouse over links in the  
bottom left of the browser window,
and I want to know where they go.

"Hard to test and debug" are pretty bad reasons to remove a feature that  
is, in fact, useful for many users (even if
you personally don't find it useful). The goal of Chromium is not to  
minimize programmer effort.
