I don't think it's realistic to limit extensions to any maximal amount of  
memory. There
are valid reasons to use lots of it. Gmail, for example, uses a whole lot  
of memory as
a matter of course.

I think it will be up to users to complain when extensions are being too  
greedy.
Luckily, in Chromium it is easy for them to see when this is happening. If  
this was a
single-process system, there'd be no way to know this was due to Google  
Mail checker.
