Comment #19 on issue 19926 by [email protected]: Cannot input any text
in Japanese flash page
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=19926

Good news.

My acquaintance reported to me that the latest Adobe flash player for Linux
(10.1 beta 2) released on Dec 17th has started to support IMEs. Here is the
screen shot from him (thanks!):

In fact, Adobe's release note says that "[FP-40] International text entry
broken in Linux reports in Flash Player 9.0.48 or higher. (2201048)."

I've confirmed that we can input (at least) Japanese characters into a
flash application inside Chromium with IBus. My environment is as follows:

OS: Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala), 32bit
Window manager: GNOME default
Chrome: 4.0.266.0 (Official Build 33992)
Flash plugin: 10,1,51,66 (10.1 beta 2, you can check the version by
visiting http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/)
IBus: Karmic's default. ibus 1.2.0.20090927-2ubuntu2 and ibus-anthy
1.2.0.20090813-2.

Steps to reproduce:
0. Make sure your IM framework (IBus, SCIM, uim, etc.) is properly
configured.
1. Download the latest flash plugin, flashplayer10_1_p2_linux_121709.tar.gz.
2. Extract the tar ball and run the installation script as a non-root user
to install the plugin to ~/.mozilla/.
3. Start Chromium, then visit http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to
make sure you're using the latest plugin.
4. Visit http://www.ustream.tv/channel/CBS-News (for example)
5. Click the "Chat" link on the right side of the video window.
6. Click the text area inside the chat application, then press an IME
hotkey.

Can someone check if the latest plugin works fine with other IM frameworks
and/or for other languages?
