yutak: I was under the impression that only gcc 4.4 compiled code is a problem - are you using gcc 4.4 for the rpm builds of chrome??? As you can see from comment #20 (where I do identify the same commit you mention in the proposed patch) or comment #31 there are other alternatives to my latest proposal in comment #38 and I just need someone to decide on what the best option is here ... I'm personally in favour of actually fixing the aliasing problem as per comment #38 rather than papering over or
