These 'self integration' features are at a lower priority because first they
want to have a stable browser, that has all of the core features any browser
needs to have, not a Google browser.
Extensions became a core feature nowadays and it is time consuming to
get it to work.
There are several (or more) other core features that need to be handled first.

Besides, all of these 'self integration' features will probably be
much much much easier to implement through the Extensions system.
Much more time would have been invested in integrating it into the
core of the browser rather than a nice Google extension,
time that would have pushed off any other core feature from getting
implemented.

What do you prefer, Print Preview\Print Selection or Google Services
Integration? perhaps you do not need it, but these printing features should
be core features and these features are still not implemented yet (for
example).
