Actually making it dark is not the problem, I kinda like it darker. Rather, it's hovering over the buttons that I don't like. It seems like a grey gradient is just overlayed on top of the buttons. I think that the buttons should pop out but with more of a flat feel, and not so much of a rounded feel, to them.
