I agree that this is an actual issue. If you hold the back button menu
open you see a list of links. These are not unlike bookmarks or any
other list of links where you can do things like middle click to open
in new tab or interact with the context menu. The lack of these
abilities is an inconsistency that should be remedied.

I use middle click commonly in firefox to open pages from the back
button menu. No one had to tell me it was possible because it's just
an expected behavior when encountering link.

Supporting middle click open in new tab should be pretty easy to
implement, I'd figure. The context menu would open up more
possibilities for people but I can see that being harder to implement.

Maybe I'll have a look at the source.
