Try this.Press WinKey+R (Or Start menu-->Run...).
Paste this there and click on "OK" -
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User
Data\Default

Look for "Bookmarks.bak". Make a back up of it.
Close Chrome.
Rename "Bookmarks.bak" to "Bookmarks".
If you are lucky, the bookmarks will be back.

After that, just in case, export your bookmarks occasionally into an HTML
file (Ctrl+Shit+B, "Tools" menu-->Export bookmarks...).
You could then load it from there if something like that happens.

And in the future (or if you decide to get edgy and get on the developer
channel - dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel), there is an option
to save your bookmarks on the servers of Google and get them back\update
them through your Google account credentials.
