When I attempt to see or listen to YouTube videos when running either
Chromium 4.0.261.0 (Ubuntu build 33442) or Chrome 4.0.249.21 on an 64-
bit Ubuntu Karmic setup on my main (desktop) machine, I get that
charming message to the effect that either JavaScript has been
disabled or an older version is being used. A check of the Synaptic
package manager shows, however, that the latest version
(10.0.32.18ubuntu1) of both the flashplugin-installer and the
flashplugin-nonfree packages is indeed installed (I've tried
uninstalling and re-installing, which sometimes works, but alas, no
joy). Moreover, YouTube videos were working perfectly until a few
weeks ago. The following command-line flags are enabled : «plugins»,
«sync», «extensions», «bookmark-menu» in both browsers. The really
strange thing is that when running precisely the same configuration on
my laptop, I have no trouble whatever with YouTube ! Any suggestions
as to what can be borking things up on my main box ?...
