I think instead of just saying "please close all open windows" in the about panel when an update has been installed, we should give the user some kind of button to do that for them, perhaps with an option to restore all open tabs. Also it would be nice to have some unobtrusive notification somewhere that a new version was installed that let you do the same things. I think I've heard people discuss this before, and I think there's agreement we want to improve what we currently have, although I don't know if anyone is actively working on it.
