Seeing the same behavior on win7 using 4.0.266.0
Works from the gallery homepage, but not from the extension's page.
Of note, in both cases the onclick event is returning true (and the href
link is going through). On the extension page, that just means you get
redirected to '#', but on the homepage it's
https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx?response=redirect&x=id%3D<extensionid>%26uc%26lang%3Den-US&prod=chrome&prodversion=4.0.266.0
(which works).
