Just finished Lord Moran's book published in 1966 shortly after WSC's
death. Moran was his personal physician for decades and his book
offers a glimpse of the human side of the man.
Covers 1940 to 1960 with some gaps though. The author states he
closed the work at the 1960 point, as Churchill's condition was such
that he was no longer part of the political game. Quite sad that he
lingered in the twilight for the remaining five years of his life.
The book also gives a good account of how arduous Churchill's many
travels were on his physical condition- one trip nearly killing him
via pneumonia. I believe the full title is - "Churchill, Based on the
Diaries of Lord Moran". I highly recommend it. I think about 800
pages.
