To quote the ubiquitous Wikipedia: "A shotgun wedding is a form of forced
marriage occasioned by an
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unintended_pregnancy> unplanned pregnancy".
Accepting that definition then, no, Randolph and Jennie's wedding was not a
shotgun wedding. There is no evidence to suggest they were pressured into
it by pregnancy. On the contrary, if I recall correctly, they had fought
long and hard to gain their families' acquiescence, long before WSC could
have been conceived. As to whether Jennie was pregnant at the wedding -
that is a separate question, the answer to which we shall probably never
know for sure.

1873 Annual Regatta:
Randolph met Jennie Jerome

Randolph met Jennie Jerome in 1873 and about a year later WSC was born. Was
this union a shot gun marriage?

Thanks,
