The newest Sir Winston Churchill Society (of Ottawa) is well and truly launched. And Allen is quite correct in observing that, as near as we can tell, all of the Pol Roger went down the assembled hatches. It appears that nary a drop was wasted. And Allen himself launched us with an inspiring address at the Residence of the British High Commissioner in Ottawa. The evening was a sell-out and we are now returning to our cocoons to plan the next Ottawa event(s).

Do bear in mind that December 30th will be the 70th anniversary of two important Churchillian events, one the delivery of the P.M.'s "Some chicken! Some neck!" speech in the Canadian House of Commons, and the other the taking of the iconic photograph of Churchill by Yousuf Karsh following the speech. All in all, a momentous year in which to launch the SWCSO. As soon as our website is up, I will advise the list.

I think we managed to get the champagne down the hatch rather than across the bow!

Somehow when I see the word "launch", I always think of smacking a bottle of champagne across the bow. Hope that didn't happen in Ottawa.

Best Churchillian wishes to Ottawa - we're thrilled to have you on board!
