Several months ago I ran across Lieutenant Harry Butters whom Winston Churchill
met in
April of 1916 while serving in Belgium and France. What made Lieutenant Butters
special was that
he was a native of San Francisco who moved to Britian so he could fight for
England.
Lieutenant Butters was killed in action on August 31, 1916 approprimately a
month after he met
Churchill.

Several months ago I emailed Karen Bennet with a short excerpt from
Martin Gilbert's The Churchill Documents Volume 7 in which Churchill mentions
his
association with Lieutenant Butters. Karen Bennet maintaines Harry Butters bio
on
FindAGrave.com . She has photos of Harry Butters which maybe found no were
else except on FindAGrave.com. She updated the bio to include the small excerpt
from
Martin Gilbert's The Churchill Documents Volume 7.
