Garibaldi is mentioned a couple of times in HESP, but only in passing. I think
I remember a Churchillian gag, something along the lines of Garibaldi being
compared to someone, but history "not recording what the Italians made of
that." I may have it wrong but it stuck in my mind because I like Garibaldi and
was amused by WSC's phrase.

But I am not aware of any ringing phrases, which surprises me - I would have
thought WSC would have admired Garibaldi's elan, daring, and significance. I
suspect that France rather than Italy was his interest.

Maybe someone else knows of one?
