Dear All,

In 1959, when Winston Churchill was departing the US following a week long
visit, he told a crowd of several hundred well wishers, "I must leave you
now and return to Britain, my other country." Yesterday marked the 51st
anniversary of the day in 1963 when President Kennedy bestowed honorary
American citizenship upon Sir Winston Churchill. To commemorate the day,
when the United States did officially become his "other country," I
presented a program in my local Rotary Club on Winston Churchill's
relationship with his "other country." I told my fellow Rotarians about
how Churchill continually worked to strengthen the relationship between
Britain and America - from his first speaking tour in this country, to his
many visits, his writings, his relationships with Roosevelt, Truman and
Eisenhower, and much in between.

As my own way of "keeping the memory green," this week's program marked the
11th time in the last 20 years that I have presented a program on Winston
Churchill to the Rotary Club.

With kind regards,

Fred Hardman
