64 years ago today Winston Churchill became prime minister again after the
Conservative party triumphed in the 1951 general election. At the age of 76
Churchill was the oldest man to become prime minister since Gladstone took
office at the age of 82 in 1892.

On my blog I have posted three entries on Churchill's election in 1951,
including references to the Daily Mirror's infamous "whose finger" headline
and a newsreel recap of the election.
