US spy plane crashes From Reuters and AAP correspondents in Washington June 22, 2005 From: News Interactive A US air force U-2 spy plane had crashed in south-west Asia, the US military said. "The cause of the crash and status of the pilot are not known at this time," the US Central Command Air Forces, or CENTAF, said in a brief statement. The statement that did not say in which country the plane had crashed. The U-2 is a single-seat, high-altitude reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft that can fly above 20,000m.
