I'm sorry to be so cynical, but the criminals still have their hands on the levers of power. The only way the criminals can be messed with is if you hit them in the pocket. A general strike or selective boycotts would be a good way to fight back, but such things require resolve and moral courage. The soft, well fed rabbits who pass for citizens in the USA just do not want to give up one iota of creature comfort to make a stand. As long as I can buy Burberry overcoats and plasma TVs on the cheap from Costco, who am I to complain. Look at the poor bastards who get blown to pieces in Iraq. There is no outcry in the general population over this dirty, illegal war, because the cannon fodder is taken from the poor and disaffected, the deceived and disenfranchised. Not instituting a draft was a brilliant strategy, because throwaway people are being shovelled at far away problems. There is a subtle inequity here - a subrosa confidence that the Iraq war will cleanse the general population of useless eaters and evolutionary deadenders.
