I answered to myself, send here in case it could help someone somewhere...
I used kmediagrab to convert mpeg to avi - codec : lavc (lavc codec :
mjpeg) video bitrate 1000 (with video high quality vhq) - sound : copy
I made my mix under cinelerra-2.0.cvs2005100, went perfect!!
it's seems avi is a good compromise to do the job under cinelerra depend
what do you want to do after (DVD, internet broadcast : xvid or
ogg/theora...etc) ...maybe there is better compromise but this one looks
good isn't it?
cheers

Hi,
I will mix a lot of mpeg files for a a video installation this week.
Last time we discussed that mpeg (codec mpeg2) is a so well format to
mix under cinelerra, different problem not resolved.
I will start my mix today, and I would like to know which format
should I convert my files to mix without too much problem under
cinelerra, without losing my mpeg2 quality also? Is there an
equivalent format/codec to do this?
thanks a lot for your answer
cheers
