I don't think that an out-of-tree repository of plugins makes any sense. If the plugins were provided precompiled, cinelerra would have to provide a stable ABI (binary interface) - we are far away from that. Even if the plugins were available as source (and sure they should be because of the GPL of cinelerra) the would need to be actively maintained in synch with any changes in svn that may happen to affect plugins. Then there is not much difference of having them separate or in the release tree.
