you can use apt-get build-dep package
to perform that operation. is not focused to standard users so im not sure if you'll find it on front-ends like synaptic. 2007/2/1, Herman Robak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Does Synaptic have "build-depends"? That is a _really_ useful feature of apt-get, if you build from Debian source packages (you need a "src" apt-source for it, so that Apt will understand) Build-depends is supposed to take care of everything if you have the right apt-source lines; the "src" line for Cinelerra and all the prerequisite unofficial apt-sources. One thing that saddens me is that so many users assume that building from source means chasing tarballs on the Internet, or manually resolving dependencies. I think the distros under- advertise their capabilities to help those who build from source. -- Herman Robak _______________________________________________ Cinelerra mailing list Cinelerra@skolelinux.no https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra
