Yes. Exactly. But the connotations

are quite different - if you're referring to the
Pravda newspaper...
"Cinema-verite" in fact has it's roots in Dziga
Vertov's Kino-Pravda
documentary series. So, in that way it has something
to do with the
russian word "pravda".
But the connotation of Verite in regards to filmmaking
is really just
the French and Quebec documentary style that had some
things similar to
UK:s "free cinema" (!) and the US "direct cinema"
-movements.
It is really a quite positive term.
