Hi everyone. This is my first time posting to this mailing list, so I
hope it works. I am a graphic artist (and software developer) and I was
hoping
to contribute to the project. I couldn't help but notice the
www.cinelerra.org website seemed a bit dated, especially compared to
other
open-source projects (such as blender.org). I put together a little
mockup (and attached the file to this email) of a new website design.
Please let me know what you think.
Wow! Can all that be done in XHTML and CSS? :-P
Jokes aside, I do prefer that clickable text is also selectable,
searchable _text_. Background images and ornaments are fine,
but I do think any text beyond logos should indeed be text.
Styled or coloured, for sure, but still text.
This can be done much prettier than we have done so far.
I love Cinelerra and I would love to contribute my time toupdate the
website, which might get more users excited aboutthe project.
You are right, the site does need a slicker design.
We should have a brainstorm on this, soon.
I would have shortened the left menu we have now, but
not down to only three items. That makes the main page
look more like a splash page ("click here to enter"),
which visitors despise.
