Renato & Ken,
you coult try to import your video files into kino first,
even if you might not want to edit with kino.

when importing, kino will convert the video into quicktime format
and generate a corresponding .mov file from each of your clips.
you can then quit kino and import those .mov files into cinelerra.

there may be other ways to generate editable video material,
however i found this one particularly easy. beware it may take time.
