I would propose writing a pulseaudio driver, instead of patching
the old ALSA driver. That would fix the problem in the right place.
It could be fairly low hanging fruit.
Write a patch. I am ready to review.
Will do, later. It just moved further down on my TODO list,
once pulseaudio turned out to be a non-issue.
It will be a simple side-task to adding Jack support,
which I also would like to do. Some time.
