No. The only gigabit card for a Catalyst 5000/5500 that will take a 5483 that I have found is the nine-port Gigabit EtherChannel card, WS-X5410. I have a 5505 with a 5410 and two 5483's loaded that is working fine: pari-5505-colo-1> sh port Port Name Status Vlan Level Duplex Speed Type ----- ------------------ ---------- ---------- ------ ------ ----- ------------ [snip] 4/1 connected 104 normal full 1000 1000BaseT 4/2 notconnect 103 normal full 1000 No GBIC 4/3 notconnect 103 normal full 1000 No GBIC 4/4 notconnect 103 normal full 1000 No GBIC 4/5 notconnect 103 normal full 1000 No GBIC 4/6 connected trunk normal full 1000 1000-LX/LH 4/7 connected trunk normal full 1000 1000-LX/LH 4/8 notconnect 103 normal full 1000 No GBIC 4/9 connected 103 normal full 1000 1000BaseT [snip] pari-5505-colo-1> sh mod Mod Slot Ports Module-Type Model Sub Status --- ---- ----- ------------------------- ------------------- --- -------- 1 1 2 1000BaseLX Supervisor WS-X5536 yes ok 2 2 2 1000BaseLX Supervisor WS-X5536 yes standby 3 3 Gigabit Ethernet Ext WS-X5410 4 4 9 Gigabit Ethernet WS-X5410 no ok 5 5 24 10/100BaseTX Ethernet WS-X5225R no ok Mod Module-Name Serial-Num --- ------------------- -------------------- 1 00012220962 2 00012220488 3 00008354644 4 00008354644 5 00013436294 [snip] I tried a 5483 in both a sup IIIG's GBIC slots and in a 5403, and it didn't work there. -- Lamar Owen Chief Information Officer Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute 1 PARI Drive Rosman, NC 28772 (828)862-5554 www.pari.edu _______________________________________________ cisco-nsp mailing list cisco-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/cisco-nsp archive at http://puck.nether.net/pipermail/cisco-nsp/
