Some of us have had 6500 boxes as VTP masters and experienced complete
meltdown of the network because the 6500s went bananas. No new switches
added or anything like that.

It should be noted that this was back in the 2002-2003 time frame. But
once bitten twice shy - there's absolutely no way I would use VTP in a
large network again.
